"City Stars +Subway Stripes"

$179.00

Gabrielle grew up in Iowa and her family had close relatives living in NYC and Ct., so she visited NYC often in her youth. After 9.11 she felt compelled to create a mixed media collage dedicated to the people and city of NYC. She used everyday materials she came across during her visits and repurposed textiles, papers, and subway maps to create a series of “City Stars + Subway Stripes” flags. Each was unique, colorful and full of love and appreciation for the city that has given so much to it’s residents and immigrants for hundreds of years.

She was represented by the Frank J Miele Contemporary folk art gallery in NYC til it closed in 2007. The artist has gone on to create contemporary and unique flags for other cities and states. If you are interested please email her.

The two remaining flags are each 11” x 14” and created using archival paper and glue.
